Oh man, where do I start with this session?! It was a DREAM! One of my favourite places in Newcastle, with such a fun, sweet and down-to-earth family – it was a match made in heaven!
Ali and John travelled up from the Central Coast, which fortunately allowed their adorable boys Nate and Logan to squeeze in a quick nap on the way. This came in very handy following a conversation that went along the lines of:
Me: “There’s a beach at the end of this track too!”
Ali + John: “Oh, how far?”
Me: “Not too far!”
We may or may not have arrived at the beach an hour’s walk later… (hint: we definitely did).
I wish I could say it’s unlike me to underestimate how long it’ll take me to do something. I hear it’s a trait of optimists though – so that means it’s a good thing, right? (Well, that’s what I’m sticking with anyway).
Luckily for me, these guys love being outdoors and exploring, so it was no biggy (phew!). And due to their nap, the boys had plenty of energy to burn while we wandered the track, spotting all sorts of random wildlife. This is one of the reasons I love doing outdoor sessions. The kiddos aren’t restricted to a particular space, and get free rein to play and explore – in fact, I encourage it!
This is why I love to document families doing what they would normally do, in the way that I do (because we all go bushwalking in our best outfits, don’t we?). Everyone is more relaxed, and there’s no pressure to look or sit a certain way, or say “Cheeeeeese!” and force smiles for the camera.
I just want everyone to have fun…and let me no-so-subtly stalk them while they do so 🤷🏼♀️
Anyway, without further ado….here are some snaps from the fun afternoon we had. And I’m not sure how, but I managed to not upload EVERY SINGLE IMAGE!
