Lake Macquarie newborn photography

Remember Evarna and Dylan from that beautiful beach maternity session? Silly question, of course you do! I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to blogging their newborn session – it’s one of my favourites!

I remember waiting for the exciting baby news, and Evarna’s due date came and went, but little bub was comfy where they were, staying inside Mum’s tum, for a little bit longer than predicted (nearly two weeks!). Then there was a day where I had a sudden feeling that bub had arrived, and that it was a boy. I messaged Evarna to see if bub had come yet, and he had! Oxley arrived precisely when he wanted to, and just as perfect as his mum and dad expected. A week later, I got to meet the adorable addition to the family, and yep, can confirm – a little bundle of perfection.

We’re away for a few days at the moment, soaking We’re away for a few days at the moment, soaking up the last of the school holidays ☀️

It’s flown by quicker than I expected!
One more week of hanging with my little gal pal, which means one more week until I’m back into the swing of work (well, more consistently anyway).
I thought I would be able to chip away at the few galleries I have left, a bit more than what I have. Turns out this is actually quite impossible when you have to entertain a 5 year old, 24/7 🤪
So my endless thanks to my clients for always being so rad and patient with me. You da best!

Now - hit me with ALLLL the tips for us first time kindy parents! I’m ready… but I’m also not 🥺
Yesterday was my final shoot for the year 🎉 Tha Yesterday was my final shoot for the year 🎉 Thanks to all my rad clients for such an awesome 2022! 🧡

I wish I remembered to take BTS from all my shoots this year, so I could feature them all here, though it was hard enough to squeeze in a few clips from what I did have left on my phone (is anyone’s iCloud storage ever not always at capacity? 😅)
I’m not using ‘trending’ audio for this reel, or trying to post it at the ‘perfect time’, in the hopes it’ll be seen by a gazillion people. I just want it to be seen by my amazing clients and everyone else who helped make 2022 the awesome year that it was; and for you all to know if I could reach through your phone and give ya a big squeeze to show my appreciation, I would!

Thanks to everyone for sticking around, watching my long-ass rambling Insta stories, and continuing to support me and my ADHD brain, as I fumble my way through this ‘running a business’ thing 🤪
I appreciate every booking, every review, every referral to family and friends, and those return clients who keep coming back - it not only warms my heart and makes me happy as all heck, it also helps support my family, so I can’t thank you enough.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million more times - I bloody love my job! And it’s all thanks to you legends for making it as great as it is 🙌🏼

Whether it’s a chill arvo kicking back at home, or plans for a big night out, I hope you all have a kick-ass NYE ringing in the new year, doing whatever makes you happy, surrounded by the people you love most! Bring on an epic 2023 💃🧡

Thanks @hayleyrafton for the pic 📸
“Oh Jess, I am utterly obsessed!!!!! Thank you “Oh Jess, I am utterly obsessed!!!!!

Thank you so so so so much!

Not only was it the most special day but the photos are perfect in every way and reflect what an amazing time we had. I couldn’t be happier. We truly love so many of them.

I am still so happy we booked the session with you as it was an experience we will remember for years to come - a bonus that didn’t really cross my mind of at the time of booking. Liam and I still talk about what a cool afternoon it was. (We were on such a high afterwards!)”

If you want to make a photographer’s day/week/month, send them an email like this one from Dana - they will never ever get old! Reading such lovely words like this will always put the biggest smile on my dial, a skip in my step, and fill my heart to the brim with happiness! 🥰

I know I’ve said it plenty of times before, but never underestimate how much your feedback means to us photographers (and all other creatives for that matter!).
We pour so much of ourselves into our work, and we don’t always hear back from clients, which leaves us feeling a lil’ anxious and worried (no? Just me? 😅)

I totally get that life gets busy, and sometimes emailing us back simply gets forgotten about, because there’s a million other things to think about 🤪
But even if it’s months down the track, when you’re admiring the moments captured during your session, and you suddenly realise “Oh shit, I never replied!” 😳 - I can assure you, it’ll never be too late!

So if you haven’t sent one to your photographer, do it now! Go on, spread a little happiness! Like RIGHT NOW. It costs nothing but means so much.
Hearing how much you love your photos is just the best thing ever 🧡
I could do a long-ass caption to accompany this po I could do a long-ass caption to accompany this post, about how amazing this wedding was; how these two legends crafted an epic day that was about 11/10 on the fun scale… but you know what? I think I’ma just let you see for yourself… 💃
I always try to get a pic of mum + dad on their ow I always try to get a pic of mum + dad on their own during a family session. But just as in everyday life, these moments alone don’t always happen so easily 😅 Usually, the kids (who up until this point weren’t so interested), suddenly HAVE to be in the photo.
Occasionally though, I get lucky, and the kiddos are busy climbing rocks and running around; too busy to notice I’ve snuck mum and dad away for a nanosecond of peace… well, kinda - ignoring the fact I’m there, third-wheeling, and demanding you guys cuddle 😂

And look, I know it might sometimes have you feeling awkward and vulnerable AF, getting cuddly in front of a camera (I usually get told the last time was their wedding day!) but I promise it’s worth it and you can trust me - the photos will speak for themselves 🧡

I’m so not used to posting to my feed, that my f I’m so not used to posting to my feed, that my fingers automatically starting taking me to add these to my stories instead 🙈
I keep saying I’ll get better at posting consistently to my feed, but look, I think deep down we know it may never happen. If it does, it will be a lovely surprise to us all 😜
Also, I planned on posting last night and told myself “Ok, just pick ONE photo and post it, don’t overthink it”… nek minut….it’s an hour and a half later, I couldn’t pick just one, and simply HAD to make a carousel again. Which always takes longer than I think, and then it was so late by the time I finished, that I just went to bed 😅 anywayyyyy! It’s here and I’m finally posting. Pat on the back for moi.

Here’s a few from this little squish’s newborn session - Max with his cute little milk bubble 🫧
